Ochre

Ochre

Ochre was used for many things back  old days and still is today. One of its many uses was for painting the bodies of Aboriginal people, not just for ceremonies and dance like you see in the image below, but also for fun too.

Back before TV and video games a favourite past time was to paint on the bodies of our family.  This was very time consuming, however the time was not wasted as it also provided the time needed to tell of the stories of the past and teach the young people the customs and ways of our people. Aboriginal Art comes in many forms and has many uses, and ochre represents one of these.
