Rebecca Beetson (Yaingayaingarra) I am of Aboriginal descent my mother is Diane Riley McNaboe, as in the Rileys from the Wiradjuri tribe in Dubbo NSW and the Kamilaroi tribe, the Wrights of Morre NSW. My father is of English and Irish background, I am a pom-a-rigine. I have been painting since I was little, I always liked art. I started painting for my family, there totems and there stories in paintings. I also painted implements for an Aboriginal dance group I was in. I didn’t start selling my art until I worked at Jedda Boomerangs, a boomerang factory were we made hand made boomerangs for tourist shops around Australia. I hand decorated boomerangs with a poker work machine burning art in to the wood. In my spare time after work, I would paint pictures for the small retail shop out at the factory. That is where I got my start after 8 years of working at jedda boomerangs, 3 of them running it myself with my husband, Hamish Beetson. I moved to Coffs harbour and decided to try the weekly markets with a painting and some bits and peaces. I have had wonderful response, that my art work is admired by lots of people they were very impressed with the amount of detail put into a painting. Please view my slide show of paintings that I have done. contact me if you would like a painting of your own. I am based on the belief that customers' needs are of the utmost importance.
