Killer Boomerang

This is one boomerang I wouldn’t want thrown at me. It is used for hunting large animals like the emu, kangaroo and different species of  bird, including ducks, water hens and geese.

This Boomerang does not come back like the Returning Boomerang, but it isn’t designed for that, but it is designed to go farther than one could throw it.

 Look at the Boomerangs shape,

it is long and thin at one end but rounded at the other,. This particular boomerang is designed to role through or bounce. Once it’s hit the ground it will roll through and bounce up following through, continuing on to hit its target with great force, hopefully hitting its target.

When we are trying to catch Kangaroos with the boomerang we don’t try to throw and hit the animal in the head or in the chest. Most animals are much to tough for that and the Boomerang will just bounce off. With emu and Kangaroo we throw at the legs, hitting the legs while the animal is running will almost gauntee a fall, and in other words a good feed!

Can you see the kangaroo out in the open in this drawing?

Remember this boomerang is designed to go further that you would expect and when hunting any advantage is welcome. Pretend that we are going hunting for a kangaroo, and the kangaroo is out in the open, it’s about 40m away, but we are hidden in the grass, it’s too far away for a good hit. Or is it?

Can you see how the Boomerang works in the diagram?
