Gubbi Gubbi People

The Gubbi Gubbi people are from South East Queensland Australia and are one of the many Aboriginal people groups. We have our own distinct language, songs, stories and culture.

We differ from all other Aboriginal Tribes but still claim the same thing.

We are Aboriginal.

A lot has been lost in regard to the old ways of our people, due to the European influence in our people's lives and of course, the persecution and destruction of our people's ways, lifestyles and particularly our land.  However please remember, this website is not designed to blame anyone for what happened nor to condemn the people involved.  It is merely a way to show the world 'My People',  the Gubbi Gubbi (Kubbi) people.

Boundaries

You can have a look at the map of our Boundaries, each tribe lived and moved through the land. Not every where and with out purpose, no this was not the case. We moved in and around our own land moving from place to place because of a number of reasons. Some are listed below.

Though it must be said if we were to go off our land, we know there was another tribe living there so we would go and ask them if we could travel through there land, or to camp on there land. There were ways of greeting people of another clan or people to show we come in peace and are not looking to stay “just passing through”!

Here you will see some of the places we used to visit for ceremonies, bountiful food places mountains, Aboriginal path ways or trading routes and major camp grounds.
