Creek Sand Paper Fig
(Ficus Coronata)
The fruit on this tree can be eaten raw and looks like the domestic figs you buy in shops. It is very tasty but sometimes the fruit can be dry. If you haven’t seen this tree before it is likely to look quite strange as the fruit grows on both the branches and trunk of the tree.
This tree has really rough leaves which, as the name suggests, have the same texture as sand paper. These leaves were used for a few things and both men and women used them in completely different ways.
Women:
Would use the leaves to 'sand' their feet and nails.
Men:
Would use the leaves to finely sand important wooden artefacts and weapons.
