Tall Saw-Sedge

(Gahnia Clarkei)

This rough looking plant has two main uses:

1)   The leaf buds were eaten as a vegetable

2)   Seeds of this plant were ground up to make flour.  The flour was then mixed with water to make dough and baked, creating a sort of biscuity bread.
